FAQs

Question: Are all applicants approved for the Free Assessment?
Answer:
Your time is precious and we take every precaution not to waste a second of it. We wouldn’t want you to go through the process of filling out our assessment application if you are not a candidate for our services. First, the “characteristics of a typical client” sited below must be met in order to qualify for the Free Assessment. If you earn a fixed income, you most likely would not qualify for our Free Assessment. An example might be someone earning $40,000 a year with access to a company 401(k) program that is suitable for this income bracket. We typically cannot help these individuals do any better than the retirement plans already available to them.An example of a typical Barber & Associates client would be a 35-year-old doctor who made $500,000 last year but could only put a small portion of his earnings into his company’s 401(k) program because he earned many times more than the salaried employees. We could help him set up a supplemental retirement plan that takes $50,000 a year and invest it outside his 401(k).

Question: Do you offer other types of financial services other than retirement planning?
Answer:
As registered investment advisors, we can assist you in other areas of investing, however this would only be on a case-by-case scenario. An example of an acceptable scenario would be if you just received an inheritance. Our goal would be to help you invest that money effectively. If you have a question regarding financial investments outside retirement planning, please contact Mike Barber by completing this online form or email him at inquire@barberassociatesfinancial.com.
Question: If I am approved for the Free Assessment, how would we meet?
Answer:
If approved for the Free Assessment, you will have the opportunity to schedule a personal meeting with Mike Barber – not one of his associates, but Mike Barber himself. For your convenience, the meetings will take place online through a private web-meeting platform. After approval, your private link, login information, and instructional video will be emailed to you so you can get acquainted with the web-meeting platform.
Question: What information do I need to have on hand for the assessment?
Answer:
Consider the initial meeting “our first date.” We respect your privacy and understand this is a major decision for you and your family to make. Our primary goal for the assessment is to determine whether or not we are the right fit for you. We will have a general discussion about your current retirement plans and goals, while covering in greater detail the questions on the application. You do not need any paperwork for this assessment, just knowledge of your current retirement investments and earnings.
Question: How long does the Free Assessment take?
Answer:
Generally 30 – 45 minutes.
Question: What are the characteristics of a typical client?
Answer:
Our typical client is a young professional living within the United States of America with over 20 years until their planned retirement. This affluent professional has a significant amount of discretionary income – making over $150,000 a year or has been consistently saving over $1,000 a month. Since we specialize in proactive retirement planning, we seek investors with the flexibility to make the appropriate changes now so they don’t end up facing the challenges of current retirees.
